Chest Wall DefectsFor patients with pectus excavatum, we have been performing the NUSS procedure since 2003. Patients are first evaluated for cardio-respiratory reserve and selected patients undergo surgery. The average hospital stay is 2-3 days with the first day spent recovering in a high dependency area.
Adult Peripheral Vascular SurgeryShankar Surgery performs surgery for severe peripheral vascular disease, including aorto-iliac, femero-popliteal and femero-distal tibial bypass.
Adult Congenital Heart SurgeryWe perform revision surgery in patients who have undergone prior cardiac repairs for congenital defects. These include implantation of homografts, electrophysiological procedures to restore sinus rhythm, repair aortic valves in patients with prolapsed valve leaflets, and more.
Adult Cardiac & Central Vascular SurgeryDr. Shankar has performed over a 1000 cases of off-pump re-vascularisation for patients with coronary artery diseases. He performs high risk coronary revascularization on a beating heart. Dr. Shankar has had extensive experience with valve restoration in patients with degenerative valve diseases, as well as patients with infective endocarditis. Dr. Shankar has repaired acute type 1 aortic dissection in 32 patients with one operative mortality. He has operated on over 50 patients with elective infra-renal aortic aneurysm repair without mortality.
